The Swedish Gerontological Society (SGS) is a multidisciplinary national organization. For the time being, SGS is the only Swedish organization represented in the Nordic Federation of Gerontology.
The Swedish Gerontological Society (SGS), established in 1998, is a society open to all who are interested in gerontology without restrictions. The interdisciplinary nature of the SGS is aptly illustrated in the fields represented by the board members and auditors during its first three years: community medicine, history, nursing, pedagogy, political science, psychology, social policy, social psychology, social work and sociology. The members' affiliations also include geriatrics, epidemology, geriatric dentistry etc. Members are researchers, general practitioners, civil servants, elder care workers, retirees and others. Members (in good standing) amount to ca 300.
