Gavva T.N., Dydykina I.S., Nasonov E.L.
PURPOSE: to obtain the data on the patients suffering arterial hypertension (АH), coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke and myocardial infarction.
METHODS: Questioning of a consecutive series of patients with RA hospitalized in the clinic of Institute of Rheumatology in 2004.
RESULTS: 424 patients aged 60 and more years, including 367 (86.5%) women and 57 (13.4 %) men, were questioned. About arterial hypertension reported 346 patients (81 %): 310 (84.4 %) women and 36 (63 %) men. AH of 1st degree (140/90-160/105 mm Hg) was revealed at 54 patients, 2nd degree (160/100-180/100 mm Hg) in 131 patients, 3rd degree (over 180/110 mm Hg) in 164 patients. 194 (45.7 %) patients were receiving constant hypotensive therapy. 217 patients including 196 women (53.4%) and 21 men (36.8 %) reported the CHD in anamnesis. Stroke in anamnesis was registered in 20 patients, including 15 (4 %) women and 5 (8.8 %) men, in 3 patients repeatedly. Myocardial infarction in anamnesis was registered in 33 patients, including 26 (7 %) women and at 7 (12.2 %) men, repeated infarction in 1 patient. The combination of AH and CHD was registered in 205 patients, among them 187 (51 %) women and 18 (31.5 %) men.
CONCLUSION: 81 % of elderly patients with RА have AH, more than 50% do not receive constant hypotensive therapy. CHD was registered in 51 %, stroke - in 4.7%, myocardial infarction – in 7.8 % of patients. It is necessary to note, that АH and CHD were observed more often in women, however the frequency of stroke and myocardial infarction was higher in men.
